1 Simple Rule to Finding Peace

This summer I have been on the search for a new place to call home. This decision was extremely important because I was deciding to become a home owner. That’s right! I was starting my journey to find a condo in Atlanta. I figured I was tired of renting and my rent was going up every year anyway, so it was time to explore other options.

To my surprise, finding a condo in Atlanta takes a lot more work than I had anticipated! Suddenly the Zillow app became my best friend, I was calling my Mom every day in panic mode when a place I loved had a pending offer on it, and pretty soon I went from excited about finding my dream home to overwhelmed and stressed out.  I knew I had to find an affordable home and I had a short amount of time to do it. I felt completely out of control and was not too thrilled about it.

By now it’s important for you guys to know that I am a control freak. I like to have a place for everything and everything in its place. It’s certainly not my best quality, but thankfully God has been working on me hard core in this area. In the Church, you are taught to surrender to His will daily. I’m not sure if you have done any surrendering lately at work or in your relationships, but it is TOUGH WORK. Surrendering to me means accepting that you may not know the destination, but trusting that the journey will lead to the right place ultimately. The beautiful thing about God is He sees our struggle and He wants us to help us loosen our grip on the steering wheel of life.

What God has shown me through this condo search and many other experiences this year is one very important lesson. Psalm 55:22 says “Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders-He’ll never let good people topple into ruin” (Message Version). Y’all we have got to GIVE IT ALL TO GOD. No seriously, I mean ALLLLLLLLLLLL. He can take your worry, frustration, excitement, grief, loneliness, joy, ANYTHING. Trust me, He can handle it. When I feel the urge to want to control the outcome or circumstance I have to remind myself that I was never made to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. Take some pressure of yourself and let Him have it.

God wants to walk with us in our journey because he cares so deeply for us (1 Peter 5:7). We are always on his radar and we can go confidently to Him about anything, even the things we think are small or insignificant to Him. I love knowing that I serve a God that loves me unconditionally and is so near to us. I pray that today you slowly start to open your hands to Him and remember that He is on your side. I pray that You trust that He will guide you in the right direction and that you remember that He has NEVER forgotten about you.

I hope this brings you encouragement today and I can’t wait to hear what God has been teaching you guys!

Keeping shining,

Brynn
